236 - Bedtime Story

You will no doubt notice that this strip doesn’t fit into the regular chronology.  For starters, the Crown Prince seems to have suddenly gained a much better grasp of the English language in this strip!

This strip is based, almost word for word, a recent bedtime story that I tried to tell my son.  Apparently, he has somehow learned how to kill dragons and that was far more important than whatever lame story I was about to share with him.

I must also give a tip of my hat to the comic “Allez raconte” by Lewis Trondheim and José Parrondo.  This French bandes dessinée (especially the first in the series) is basically the story of a father trying to tell his children a story and constantly being sidetracked by their requests.  The father also becomes victim to his own cleverness, needing to resolve cute details that he inserted into the story.  All this while he’s trying to watch the football (soccer) match on TV.

I just found out that there’s a whole bunch of Youtube videos of “Allez raconte” (in French) that you can go watch if you want an idea of what I’m talking about.

Hey it’s the blue Hippo! ( is the prince still hear him? )

Plus the Prince already got a dragon as a bestfriend, why talking about killing them?
