MZ: there’s no denying that this mini-arc with the fairy godmothers is inspired by Sleeping Beauty. I know there’s also a fairy godmother in Cinderella. Are there any other fairy tales where fairy godmothers make an appearance?
I’m sure your remark about this being the first black character won’t offend anybody since it is true.
Since CP is clearly based on northern European mythology you wouldn’t expect to see any African-Americans - the Americas being ‘discovered’ after this date. You might expect to see an occasional Negro/Moor … but these would clearly be African !!
As for Sleeping Beauty … I’m sure you wish she was … for at least a few consecutive hours during the night anyway
There once was a guy who perpously got such a humongous tan that made his skin almost pitch black, the guy got the tan to know how it felt to be black. Most did not treat him well, i think he also died from skin cancer.
MobiusZero: A guy a long long long long time ago(, back when most of america was racist,) had decided he wanted to know how it felt like to be black, so he got a tan that made him look black, and there was no way he could become the way he was before.
The man was John Howard Griffin. He was a journalist, and in 1959, he artificially darkened his skin with the drug oxsoralen, travelled throughout the south for 6 weeks, then wrote the book BLACK LIKE ME about his experiences. When he stopped taking the drug, his skin lightened to its original color, and he did not die of skin cancer.
